Explore Your Options: FHLB Housing Grants Could Help Make Homeownership a Reality

Homeownership may seem like a distant dream for many, but it doesn't have to be. FHLB Housing Grants, offered by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, can provide the financial boost you need to finally achieve your goal. These grants are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and funds are limited, so it's important to act quickly.

Here's a look at the programs available:

Workforce Housing Plus Program (up to $15,000)

This program is designed to help a wide range of homebuyers, including middle-income families. If you're earning between 80.01% and 120% of the Area Median Income, you might be eligible. Even better, it doesn't matter if you're a first-time buyer or have owned a home before. And you have the flexibility to use the grant funds for your down payment or closing costs – whatever helps you most.

Affordable Housing Program

This program has two grant options:

  • First-Time Homebuyers (up to $17,500): Are you ready to buy your first home? This grant could provide you with assistance. This program requires a minimum contribution of $1,000 from you, and the home must be your primary residence for 5 years. Income limits apply.
  • Community Partners (up to $20,000): We value our community heroes. If you're a current or retired law enforcement officer, educator, healthcare worker, firefighter, other first responder, veteran, or active-duty military member (or their surviving spouse), you could be eligible for grant assistance. A minimum contribution of $1,000 is required. The home must be your primary residence, but there's no first-time homebuyer requirement.

To qualify for either AHP program, your household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
